Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa has recently announced on the company’s Japanese Twitter account that the successor to the popular Nintendo Switch console will be revealed within the current fiscal year, which ends in April 2025. The new system will be known as the “Switch next model,” suggesting that it will not be a radical departure from the original Switch.
While many were anticipating the announcement of the Switch successor during the upcoming Nintendo Direct presentation in June, Furukawa clarified that the event will instead focus on content for the latter half of 2024 and will not include any information about the new system.
Rumors had been circulating that the Switch successor would be launched this year, but latest reports point towards a 2025 release date. It is expected that the new system will feature magnetic Joy-Con controllers rather than rail-equipped ones, while still being compatible with the Pro controller.
Fans of the Nintendo Switch can look forward to the upcoming reveal of its successor as Nintendo continues to innovate and expand its gaming offerings. Stay tuned for more updates on the highly anticipated “Switch next model” as information becomes available.
