Terique Owens, the son of Hall of Fame receiver Terrell Owens, is following in his father’s footsteps by signing on as an undrafted free agent with the San Francisco 49ers. The 49ers General Manager John Lynch was impressed by Terique’s performance at a local pro day, where he showcased his skills that reminded Lynch of Terrell Owens’ playing style.
Terique’s journey to the NFL began at Florida Atlantic before transferring to Missouri State, where he made a significant impact with 528 receiving yards on 28 catches in 2023. His talent on the field and resemblance to his father were enough for the 49ers to offer him a spot on their 90-man roster.
Terrell Owens had a storied career with the 49ers, earning three first-team All-Pro selections and achieving a career-best 1,451 receiving yards in 2000. Now, his son Terique has the opportunity to make his own mark with the same team where his father found success.
As Terique embarks on this new chapter in his football career, he will carry on the legacy of his father while also aiming to carve out his own path in the NFL. With the support of the 49ers organization and his family’s football genes, Terique Owens is poised to make his mark in the league just like his Hall of Fame father.
