Poland Demands Explanation from Russia After Missile Enters Airspace During Attack on Ukraine
Poland has demanded an explanation from Russia after a missile briefly entered Polish airspace during a missile attack on Ukraine. The incident took place during Russia’s third massive missile attack on Ukraine in just four days, with the second targeting the capital city of Kyiv.
According to reports, Russia used cruise missiles launched from Tu-95MS bombers in the attack on Kyiv. The missile that entered Polish airspace stayed for 39 seconds near the village of Oserdów before retreating. In response to the incident, Polish F-16 fighter jets were activated.
Poland’s Defense Minister stated that the Russian missile would have been shot down if it had been heading towards a target in Poland. The Polish foreign ministry plans to summon the Russian ambassador to hand him a protest note regarding the intrusion into Polish airspace.
Intrusions into Polish airspace have been a cause of worry for the country since Russia invaded Ukraine. In 2022, two Poles were killed in a missile blast, which was attributed to a Ukrainian air defense missile but blamed on Russia for starting the war.
Recently, one person was killed and four others were wounded in a Ukrainian missile attack on Sevastopol in the Russian-occupied Crimean peninsula. The situation remains tense as the conflict between Russia and Ukraine continues to escalate. Stay tuned to Matzav Blog for further updates on this developing story.
