Iranian Missile Attack on Israel Partially Thwarted by Technical Failures, US Forces
According to reports, half of the Iranian missiles launched at Israel over the weekend were duds due to technical issues. Out of more than 330 missiles and drones fired by Iran, only about 165 reached their intended targets. The majority of the surviving rockets were taken out by US forces, not Israeli air defenses.
The Israel Defense Forces confirmed that about nine intact missiles landed in Israel, injuring a 7-year-old girl. Despite the lack of significant damage, Iranian leaders claimed that the attack achieved all its goals.
More than 80 rockets were shot down by US aircraft and others by American warships in the Mediterranean. British, French, and Jordanian aircraft also assisted in taking out the remaining rockets.
President Biden stated that US forces successfully intercepted nearly all of the Iranian rockets fired from various locations. Tensions in the region are escalating as Israel reportedly prepares to retaliate against Iran.
The incident has highlighted the ongoing animosity between Iran and Israel, with fears of further conflict in the already volatile Middle East. Stay tuned to Matzav Blog for updates on this developing situation.
