Google has recently announced the introduction of new apps for its Pixel 8 and 8 Pro phones, aiming to enhance user experience and provide useful tools. Among these new apps are the Thermometer app and the Magnifier app.
The Magnifier app is designed to enable users to zoom in on small print and offers a dedicated and user-friendly experience. With a viewfinder resembling the Google Camera app, users will find settings conveniently located in the bottom-left corner. The app also includes a shutter button, zoom in and out options, a flash button, and a reset zoom button. This comprehensive set of features allows users to easily capture clear and detailed images.
Once an image is captured, users can leverage the power of Google Lens to analyze it. Additionally, they can save the image to their Pixel device and share it with others, making it an all-in-one solution for capturing and sharing information.
In another update, Google plans to enhance its Recorder app by incorporating an automatic summarization feature. Expected to be released in December, this update will allow the app to generate bullet points summarizing recorded content within seconds.
Users will be able to access the new “Summarize” feature in the Transcript tab of a recording session, making it easier to review and understand vital information. Furthermore, users can hide the summary or provide valuable feedback by expressing their satisfaction with a thumbs-up or dissatisfaction with a thumbs-down.
To make it even more convenient, the Recorder app will also gain the ability to favorite recordings directly from the app bar. This feature will allow users to easily access their preferred recordings without navigating through multiple menus.
These new additions to Google’s app arsenal aim to offer Pixel 8 and 8 Pro users practical tools that enhance their overall smartphone experience. From capturing clear images with the Magnifier app to automatically summarizing recordings with the Recorder app, Google continues to innovate and provide valuable features to its users.
