Google Unveils New Feature for Electric Vehicle Drivers in Google Maps
Google has recently announced an innovative feature for electric vehicle (EV) drivers that allows them to track and view real-time battery information directly through Google Maps. This exciting development aims to enhance the EV driving experience and provide drivers with valuable data regarding their electric batteries.
The newly introduced feature is available in EVs equipped with Android Auto, a secondary interface that functions on the user’s phone and wirelessly communicates with the vehicle’s display. By leveraging Android Auto, Google Maps can now share real-time battery information with drivers, offering insights such as estimated battery levels upon arrival at their destination and suggesting charging stops when necessary. The feature also indicates the duration required for charging, enabling drivers to plan their trips better and alleviate the concern of running out of power.
Initially, this Android Auto feature will be accessible to EV owners of the Ford Mustang Mach-E and F-150 Lightning models. However, Google plans to collaborate with more EV brands in the coming months, expanding the availability of this groundbreaking feature to a wider range of electric vehicles.
In addition to this EV-oriented update, Google has integrated new trip planning capabilities, the Chrome browser, and the Weather Channel app into its automotive services product, Google built-in. This product is built into vehicles equipped with an Android Automotive operating system, allowing users to conveniently send their planned trips from Google Maps on their smartphones directly to their cars. Furthermore, users can enjoy using the Chrome browser during vehicle charging, enhancing their in-vehicle experience.
Prominent automakers such as Polestar, Volvo, Nissan, Ford, and Lincoln have already incorporated Google built-in into some of their vehicle models. Moreover, Porsche is set to join the league, further expanding the reach of Google’s automotive services.
In yet another exciting update, vehicles integrated with Google built-in now have access to entertaining platforms such as PBS KIDS and Crunchyroll, along with the valuable Weather Channel app.
With these recent advancements, Google continues to revolutionize the EV driving landscape by providing electric vehicle drivers with state-of-the-art features and services. By leveraging Google Maps and Android Auto, users can now enjoy a more seamless, informed, and engaging driving experience.
