Apple’s latest MacBook Air with M3 chip boasts faster SSD speeds compared to the previous M2 model, according to recent benchmark results from YouTube channel Max Tech.
The base model 13-inch MacBook Air with the M3 chip now utilizes two 128GB storage chips, leading to significantly improved read and write speeds in tests. Max Tech’s findings revealed that the M3 model exhibited up to 33% faster write speeds and up to 82% faster read speeds compared to the M2 model.
This upgrade is expected to benefit the base model 15-inch MacBook Air with the M3 chip as well. Customers no longer need to worry about slower speeds when opting for the 256GB storage option in the M3 model, eliminating the need to configure the laptop with at least 512GB of storage.
The new MacBook Air models with the M3 chip were released on Friday, while the M2 model with 256GB of storage is still available for $999. Apple’s decision to switch to two 128GB storage chips for the base model MacBook Air in 2022 has sparked some controversy within the tech community.
Overall, the latest benchmark results highlight the significant improvements in SSD speeds that users can expect from the new MacBook Air models with the M3 chip, making it a worthy consideration for those in the market for a new laptop.
