Apple is set to revolutionize its Mac lineup with the introduction of M4 chips, scheduled to debut in late 2024. The new chips will focus on enhancing performance specifically for artificial intelligence capabilities, aiming to take Mac devices to the next level in terms of efficiency and power.
The entire Mac lineup is expected to receive the M4 chips between late 2024 and early 2025. The first devices to undergo the upgrade will include the iMac, low-end 14-inch MacBook Pro, high-end 14-inch MacBook Pro, 16-inch MacBook Pro, and Mac mini machines.
Furthermore, Apple plans to roll out updates for the 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Air models in spring 2025, followed by the Mac Studio in mid-2025, and the Mac Pro later in the year.
The M4 chips will be available in at least three main varieties, catering to different models within the Mac lineup. The Donan chip will be designated for the low-end devices, Brava for mid-tier products, and Hidra for the top-end Mac Pro.
Notably, the M4 chips are expected to support up to 512GB Unified Memory, a significant increase from the current 192GB limit. Additionally, these chips will be built on a 3-nanometer process, which will result in improvements in both performance and power efficiency.
Apple also plans to enhance the Neural Engine within the M4 chips, with increased cores specifically designed for AI tasks. This upgrade signifies Apple’s commitment to innovation and delivering cutting-edge technology to its customers. Stay tuned for more updates on Apple’s groundbreaking M4 chip lineup.
