Several Hollywood actors have come under scrutiny after it was revealed that they wrote letters of support for Brian Peck, a Nickelodeon dialogue coach who was convicted of child sexual abuse in 2004. The shocking revelations come to light in the Investigation Discovery documentary series “Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV.”
Former “Drake & Josh” star Drake Bell accuses Peck of sexually assaulting him at the young age of 15. Despite this accusation, before Peck’s sentencing in 2004, well-known actors such as James Marsden, Taran Killam, Alan Thicke, and Ron Melendez wrote letters of support for him. These letters were intended for the judge to consider during Peck’s sentencing but were previously sealed.
Actors Will Friedle and Rider Strong also wrote letters in support of Peck, but later expressed regret for doing so. Ultimately, Peck was sentenced to 16 months in jail and ordered to register as a sex offender.
Bell was astonished by the number of supporters Peck had during his sentencing and addressed them in court. Nickelodeon issued a statement expressing support for Bell after he revealed himself as the victim in the case.
The documentary’s revelations come in the wake of Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis facing backlash for writing character letters in support of Danny Masterson, their former co-star convicted of raping two women.
“Quiet on Set” will air on ID on March 17 and March 18 at 9 p.m. ET, shedding light on the dark side of the entertainment industry.
