Dozens of Indian Men Duped into Joining Russia’s War Against Ukraine
In a shocking revelation, it has come to light that dozens of Indian men were duped into joining Russia’s war against Ukraine. This scheme, which lured unsuspecting victims with promises of jobs as delivery boys and helpers for the army, has resulted in at least two deaths so far.
One of the victims, Mohammed Asfan, a 30-year-old father of two, was tragically killed on the front lines last month. Asfan had been reassured that his duties would not involve combat, but he was ultimately sent to the front lines where he lost his life.
Another victim, 23-year-old Hemal Ashwinbhai Mangukiya, was killed in a Ukrainian airstrike while serving as a “security helper” with the Russian army at Donetsk. These deaths have brought attention to the dangerous and risky nature of being lured into support jobs with the Russian Army.
The Indian government has taken up the matter with the Russian government and is urging all Indian nationals caught up in the scheme to be discharged immediately. India’s External Affairs Ministry has confirmed the presence of a major human trafficking network connected to this scheme and has warned all Indian nationals to stay away from the conflict and not be swayed by offers made by agents.
It is a tragic reminder of the dangers of falling victim to such schemes, and the Indian government is working to ensure the safe return of all Indian nationals involved. The families of the victims are mourning their loss and calling for justice for their loved ones who were deceived into joining a war they had no business being a part of.
