Florida State Seminoles Release Depth Chart, Varsity Finds Success in Season Opener
In preparation for their upcoming game against the Southern Miss Golden Eagles, the Florida State Seminoles have released their depth chart. Among the notable changes is Bless Harris being listed as an “OR” at both tackle spots. Quarterback Jordan Travis, along with running backs Trey Benson and Lawrance Toafili, have been confirmed as starters.
The wide receiver positions will be filled by Johnny Wilson, Destyn Hill or Winston Wright Jr., and Keon Coleman. Meanwhile, Kyle Morlock and Jaheim Bell have been given the nod as the starting tight ends.
The offensive line will consist of Robert Scott Jr. or Bless Harris at left tackle, Casey Roddick at left guard, Maurice Smith at center, D’Mitri Emmanuel or Darius Washington at right guard, and Jeremiah Byers or Bless Harris at right tackle.
On the defensive side, Jared Verse will take on the role of defensive end, accompanied by Braden Fiske and Fabien Lovett or Joshua Farmer at defensive tackle. Patrick Payton will round out the defensive line as the other defensive end. The linebackers will be either Kalen DeLoach or DJ Lundy and Tatum Bethune.
In the secondary, Jarrian Jones or Greedy Vance have been listed as starters at nickel. Fentrell Cypress II and Renardo Green will man the cornerback positions, while Shyheim Brown will fill the BUCK linebacker spot. The starting safeties will be Akeem Dent or Kevin Knowles.
The special teams units will feature Deuce Spann or Trey Benson, and Caziah Holmes as the kick returners, with Keon Coleman taking on the role of punt returner. Ryan Fitzgerald will serve as the team’s kicker and kickoff specialist, while Alex Mastromanno will handle punting and holding duties. James Rosenberry Jr. will be responsible for long snapping.
The Florida State Seminoles began their season strongly with a 45-24 victory over the LSU Tigers, resulting in a jump of four spots in the AP Poll to No. 4. This win extends their winning streak to seven games, making it the longest active streak in the ACC.
The 45 points scored against LSU tied for the most points scored against a top-five opponent in a season opener in the poll era. This feat has only been achieved five times in program history. Additionally, the Seminoles have scored at least 35 points in seven consecutive games, the longest active streak in the nation.
The defense proved their mettle by limiting LSU to just two scores on 10 plays inside their own 5-yard line.
The Seminoles’ roster boasts a total of 88 players with collegiate experience, with 41 of them having started at least one game. The offensive line stands out as the most experienced group in the country, having accumulated 310 games played and 219 combined starts. It is worth noting that nine different offensive linemen have started at least one collegiate game, with seven of them having made at least 20 starts.
With a strong and experienced lineup, the Florida State Seminoles are ready to continue their winning ways against the Southern Miss Golden Eagles.
