Out-of-Town Visitor Tests Positive for Measles in Cincinnati
An out-of-town visitor has tested positive for measles in Cincinnati, according to the Cincinnati Health Department. The individual flew from Chicago to Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport on April 10th.
During their time in Cincinnati, the individual went to Morton’s Steakhouse on Vine Street for takeout and took a Lyft to the Hyatt Regency Cincinnati on West Fifth Street at approximately 9 p.m. Staff, guests, or visitors at the Hyatt Regency or the steakhouse between 9 p.m. and 11 p.m. on April 10th may have been exposed.
Symptoms of measles include high fever, cough, runny nose, watery eyes, and rash (appearing 3-5 days after other symptoms start). Those who may have been exposed are advised to isolate and call their doctor to get tested.
The health department recommends checking if you have received the MMR vaccine, as it can lower the risk of measles. If you have received the vaccine or have had measles before, your risk is considered “very low.”
If you believe you may have been exposed, do not go to the emergency room or urgent care to get tested. Instead, contact the Cincinnati Health Department at 513-357-7462.
