Microsoft has recently announced a major upgrade to its AI assistant Copilot, with the introduction of GPT-4 Turbo to its free tier. Users can now access this cutting-edge technology by setting Copilot to either Creative or Precise mode.
Those with Copilot Pro subscriptions can still use GPT-4 Turbo by default, but now have the option to switch to older models if they choose. This new AI model has been trained on data up to April 2023 and boasts the ability to handle text-to-speech prompts.
Copilot, launched by Microsoft last year, aims to integrate AI technology across various platforms, including Windows 11, Bing, Microsoft 365, and Edge. The decision to offer GPT-4 Turbo for free may hint at the potential release of GPT-4.5 Turbo in the future, a model rumored to be in development by OpenAI.
Various tech companies are increasingly incorporating generative AI into their products, following the success of OpenAI’s ChatGPT chatbot in late 2022. Microsoft’s move to offer GPT-4 Turbo to its free tier could indicate plans to differentiate Copilot versions, possibly incorporating GPT-4.5 Turbo into the paid Copilot Pro tier when it becomes available.
With the rapid advancements in AI technology, it seems that Microsoft is staying ahead of the curve by providing users with access to the latest and most advanced AI models through their Copilot assistant. Stay tuned for further updates on the evolution of AI technology in the coming months.
